NFL Picks: Week 1

Carolina +7 over NY Giants
The Panthers will keep the game closer than the current betting line but the Giants will end up winning the game.

Miami -3 wins and covers over Buffalo
Dolphins are a better team and they get a good break by traveling to Buffalo in the early fall.

Atlanta -2 wins and covers over Pittsburgh
Loss of Big Ben is a little too much to overcome for Steelers.

Chicago -7 covers and wins over Detroit
Pressure is squarely on Lovie Smith and the Bears, and the Lions have not won a road game in two years.

New England -5 covers and wins over Cincinnati
Should be a shootout, but don’t bet against Brady and the Patriots in their home opener.

Cleveland +3 (and wins) over Tampa Bay
Two pitiful teams, but Jake Delhomme usually beats Tampa Bay.

Jacksonville -3 covers and wins over Denver
I gotta go with the home team in this tossup game.

Indianapolis -3 covers and wins over Houston
Until the Texans actually beat the Colts in a regular season game, I have to pick Indianapolis.

Tennessee -7 covers and wins over Oakland
Titans will continue their winning ways from last season’s good finish.

Green Bay -3 covers and wins over Philadelphia
I don’t think Philadelphia and their new Quarterback (Kevin Kolb) will score enough to keep pace with Aaron Rodgers and the powerful Packer Offense.

Arizona -4 covers and wins over St. Louis
St. Louis is quite arguably the worst team entering the new season and it doesn’t matter that Derek Anderson is starting for Arizona.

San Francisco -3 covers and wins over Seattle
Seattle is rebuilding under Pete Carroll while the 49ers are primed for a big season under Mike Singletary.

Washington +4 over Dallas (Dallas wins game)
The sight of these two hated rivals and the debut of Donovan McNabb should keep this game close.

Baltimore +3 over NY Jets (Baltimore wins game)
Jets will have trouble running the ball against the Baltimore front seven, which means it will be up to Mark Sanchez energize the offense.  That might not be a good thing.

San Diego -5 covers and wins over Kansas City
San Diego minus Vincent Jackson and Marcus McNeil is still the class of the AFC West Division.
